Twitch Prime Details

This is what you get with Twitch Prime:
  • Free games
  • Free in-game items
  • No advertising (previously Turbo)
  • A free subscription to a partnered channel of your choice once per month
  • Chat badge and emotes --
  • -- Turbo badge is still available. You can change it by clicking on the Chat Settings button and then "Edit Appearance" under your name. The new Amazon crown is the default badge.

Very cool stuff! The free games will likely not be any major AAA titles. They may be smaller indie titles (maybe) but I think the focus will be on games that offer more interaction for Twitch streamers and viewers alike. 

October's line-up of free stuff is as follows:

  • Streamline - an interactive video game for both streamers and viewers (redeemable until 10-31)
  • Tyrande Whisperwind character for Hearthstone (redeemable until 11-5)
  • Ymir exclusive skin for Smite (redeemable until 10-13)
  • Weapon skin for Paladins (redeemable until 10-13)

Note: If you're having trouble getting the redemption page to open you'll need to enable popups temporarily.

The bonus content included with this Premium service will change per month. As you can see above, not all of it is available for the entire month.

The free subscription does not automatically renew at this time. It's possible they may add that as an option in the future. For now you'll have to resubscribe every month to a channel or pick a new one if you'd like. Amazon pays for this. It's not just free access to a partnered channel's emotes and such. They will still get paid but it's not coming out of your wallet. (Sort of, as you do pay for Amazon/Twitch Prime).

Turbo is being phased out. You can no longer subscribe to Twitch Turbo as a new member. Users that are already subscribed can continue being subscribed but at some point will probably be forced off of it.

Twitch Prime is basically the same exact thing as Amazon Prime. They are not separate services. For the U.S. there is an option to pay monthly. You can also get started with a free 30 day trial.

Link your Amazon Prime account with Twitch if you're already a Prime member.
