Spider-Man 2 has received many optimization updates and bug fixes since its launch on PC. Today, along with their usual bug fixes, a new update has added Steam Trading Cards, along with Profile Backgrounds and Emoticons available to purchase with your Steam Points.
If you're not already aware, the Trading Cards are earned automatically from playing any game that has added items to the Points Shop for them. Not all games have this as an option. Lookin at you, Hogwarts Legacy! I could name so many game that don't have steam points stuff. I don't hate them for it or anything. The steam points stuff is just a fun little thing that I don't pay a whole lot of attention to. I'm sure some people might be heavily invested into it. I've gotten some pretty cool steam profile backgrounds from them. One of my favorites is from Agents of Mayhem.
The Trading Cards are also tradeable and purchaseable on Steam's market. It's free to List your items and the interface is easy to follow when viewing your cards. These usually sell in the pennies but do reach one-dollar plus sometimes. I don't browse it often enough to be familiar with what sells for what. I see the cards that I get usually sell for anywhere from four cents to twelve cents. I keep em just for the heck of it.
You earn Steam Points automatically from making purchases directly through the Steam store page. I think it's like ten points per dollar you spend? I never really pay attention to that. You can also earn the points from being active in the steam community forums. I guess you earn points based on any "awards" people might give to your post. It's a weird system I don't really want to try and explain. It's easy stuff to passively get.
Be aware, the steam forums are a disgusting and disgraceful place. The moderators there have zero brains at all and the entire community is basically just troll land. You're more likely to get suspended, (what they now call "banned"), from a forum for calling out a troll than you are to get suspended for being a troll.
The Profile Backgrounds you can purchase are themed to the games you buy them for. I love browsing them sometimes. The emoticons you buy can be used on the forums as well as in chat messages.

I don't care much about the Steam cards and points and stuff, but this does tell us that Sony is putting more thought and effort into it's PC releases, which is good.
ReplyDeleteI like having them as a passive thing that takes no effort on my part. There are some cool emotes and backgrounds from them. Just fun little things. Definitely better than not having them. The first Spider-Man game and Miles Morales still don't have points stuff.
