Dreadhunter is an isometric twin-stick shooter with rpg elements that has you fluidly swapping from shooting to melee to restore ammo in extremely fast-paced combat. It's one of the pricier Early Access games at $34.99 but the quality is impressive. It has great visuals, great music, and smooth gameplay.
Act III of Dreadhunter just came out on February 19th. I've been meaning to check it out but still haven't yet as I've been playing a large variety of other games. I've been watching these updates and have found most of them to be very exciting. I really do enjoy this game but have been patiently waiting for more content which I have watched continuously and slowly be added. I was in the game for Act I before II was even available.
Act III was a very large update that included adding new missions, new environments, new bosses, new skill tree nodes, new visual effects, animations and enhancements, new weapon types, and new and updated sound effects. That's a pretty impressive update.
Today, Trickster Arts has put out another nice update for Dreadhunter that adds more environmental variety with more rooms, UI enhancements to improve visibility and understanding of what you're looking at, new Shop items, and a few more quality of life updates.
I'm sharing this news because I have really enjoyed the several hours of playtime I've put into the game so far. It's very fun and cool. I'm enjoying seeing the updates these developers put out and the new content and feature updates they've been working on.
While the game is pricier than a lot of Early Access games, it's a good one. I'm not saying go pay it's asking price or anything. I just like it and I'm impressed with it and I'd like to see it succeed. Trickster Arts has been very adamant about the price of Dreadhunter. It has been one of the most major complaints on the forums. Surprisingly to me, recently one of the devs responded to a forum post and mentioned that there will be a small discount on the game soon. I found it surprising just because of their replies to every complaint about the price has basically been "too bad" but in nicer words. I've always found it to be a little funny. I don't blame them for sticking to their guns about the price or anything but I can also understand players not wanting to spend so much money on an unfinished game.
If you enjoy twin-stick shooters, definitely give this game a look and maybe even add it to your Wishlist to keep an eye out on it. Thanks for reading. Game on.
