Santa Monica Studio Celebrates God of War's 20th Anniversary

God of War Ragnarök will receive a free content update they're calling the "Dark Odyssey Collection" on March 20th as part of Santa Monica Studio's celebration of the 20th anniversary of the original God of War game. The content includes new costume skins for Kratos that were from the first and second games, costumes for Freya and Atreus, as well as weapon, shield, and attachment cosmetics.

The Dark Odyssey Collection game update for God of War Ragnarök is set to release on both PlayStation and PC. Try not to confuse the name of this update with a new game bundle. 😊 There is also an art exhibition starting today and lasting until March 23rd at Gallery Nucleus in Los Angeles, California. Old and current members of Santa Monica Studio will be there to show new art, concept art, and memorabilia. There's also a downloadable Fan Kit that includes banners, icons, and desktop/mobile wallpapers.

Santa Monica Studio will also soon be offering a God of War: 20th Anniversary Retrospective and other merchandise. You can view more details for that on their official announcement.

About the free content: "Once the update is live, you’ll be able access the collection below from any Lost Items chest in the base game or automatically while in Valhalla." Also, "Please note, the weapon appearances are made for the fully upgraded version of each weapon and will only be available for use upon reaching that upgrade."

If interested, I have written about and recorded videos of my thoughts on the God of War reboot in the past. Here's a link to the search results on my blog here. A few of the search results are incorrect but it has everything.

As a side note, the moderation of the PlayStation Blog comments is stupid as f***. This new normal we're in where the dumbest things get "moderated" on all platforms is deeply disgusting. In thise case, I had left a comment saying I like the news and decided to share it on my blog and I linked to it. Their answer: Delete. They really love their fans. /wink Thanks for reading. Game on.
